Online Safety
Hyrstmount Junior School is committed to promoting the safe and responsible use of the internet.
We understand that it is increasingly difficult to keep up with the ways that our children are using new and ever-changing technologies. Our children are immersed in a society that has become dependent on powerful computers, including smartphones, iPads, interactive online games and virtual communities. Whilst the internet can be an extremely useful tool, it can also put children at risk of exposure to inappropriate content and behaviours.
It is important that parents/carers are kept up to date with the information about social media and gaming, so that you can make informed decisions about your child's access to platforms and how to monitor their use.
Family Agreement
Creating a family agreement is a great way to start positive family conversations around safe and responsible internet use, and to agree clear expectations and boundaries.
Useful Links
We do lots of work in computing lessons to ensure our learners are always safe when using the internet. Please have a look at the links below to help ensure your children are safe when using the internet at home. Technology will keep changing, so it's important to keep yourself up to date.
